International Peasant Seed Gatherings
"Sow your resistance" 2024
From October 1st to 5th, 2024, the Réseau Semences Paysannes, SOL Alternatives Agroécologiques et Solidaires, and MSPM, in partnership with Let’s Liberate Diversity, are organizing the International Peasant Seed Gatherings “Sow your resistance” in the Alpes Maritimes.
The ambition of these Gatherings is to bring together farmers, civil society actors, peasant organizations, researchers, and citizens from all continents around the technical, environmental, social, and economic challenges of preserving, multiplying, and circulating peasant seeds.
These Gatherings are therefore a key moment to collectively build skills on peasant seeds, forge strong bonds between participants, and carry a strong collective message in favor of a peasant agroecological system that is healthy for both the environment and people.
Throughout the week, small group sessions at host farms are planned, as well as training sessions and plenary meetings. We will also host the General Assembly and the Let’s Liberate Diversity Forum.
The event will conclude with a festive day to raise public awareness about the importance of cultivated biodiversity in our food.
A festive atmosphere for all
The final day of the Gatherings offered citizens an opportunity to meet practitioners from around the world and discover the issues related to cultivated biodiversity. This festive day had the dual objective of raising public awareness about the importance of peasant seeds and building connections between producers and consumers.
The rich and varied program captivated young and old alike: seed market, plant parade, interactive workshops, fascinating conferences, immersive exhibitions, film screenings, and artistic performances. A day dedicated to learning, sharing, and celebrating biodiversity.
A huge thank you to the groups 7 montagne, Chu Chi Cha, and Balaphonick Sound System for closing the event in style with such a festive atmosphere!
A big thank you to all the co-organizers, partners, volunteers, participants, and visitors who helped make these International Peasant Seed Gatherings a memorable event!
We also warmly thank all our financial partners for their trust and their contribution to the success of the event.
A highly successful event
