Maralps Peasant Seed Festival — October 10, 2026

September 26, 2026

See the Italian translation below.

The Maralps Peasant Seed Festival returns on October 10 to La Brigue

On Saturday, October 10, 2026, the Maison des Semences Paysannes Maralpines (MSPM) and its Italian partner CASAM invite you to La Brigue, Cianese district, at La Poudrière, for the second edition of “I semi oltre i confini — Seeds Beyond Borders.” A Franco-Italian cross-border day entirely dedicated to peasant seeds, agrobiodiversity, and resistance in the face of climate and regulatory challenges weighing on our agriculture.

This gathering is part of the Alpimed+ project, funded under the InterReg program, and follows the first edition organized in spring 2026 in Limone Piemonte, on the Italian side.

A day to meet, learn, and act together

Faced with the climate emergency and the announced arrival of new GMOs (NBTs, or New Breeding Techniques), consumers, producers, market gardeners, gardeners, and citizens are invited to come exchange, learn, and build common responses together, between France and Italy. Because pollen, like climate, knows no borders.

The day’s program

10:00 AM–12:00 PM: Visit to the Rocambole garden & seed extraction workshop with Marie Bonneville

12:00 PM–1:30 PM: Peasant lunch, organic, local and seasonal, made from peasant seeds, cooked with love by Victor Brandi and a team of volunteers

1:30 PM–3:00 PM: Climate emergency, let’s meet to act better! Workshop for cross-border biodiversity actors to get to know each other and share our associations’ actions to adapt to climate change

3:30 PM–5:00 PM: OMG*, the GMOs are coming! The dam has broken: we have one year to sow our resistance. Conference on new GMOs with Bruno Viennois and workshop to organize our upcoming actions. (*Oh My God)

5:30 PM–6:30 PM: Seed exchange on the radio with Radio Tout Terrain

6:30 PM–7:00 PM: Testimonies from two ethnobotanists, Giada Bellia and Sylvie Planel

Come one, come all

This day is open to everyone, whether you’ve been committed to preserving peasant seeds for a long time or are simply curious to discover these issues. Spread the word around you, and come sow tomorrow’s resistance with us!
